Jaco's New Highway is Open!

Jaco's New Highway to the Pacific Beaches on Costa Rica's Central Coast are now open! Foreigners looking for Jaco Costa Rica Real Estate and for vacations in Jaco appreciate the new convenience. The Caldera Highway also known as Autopista Del Sol connects San Jose, Costa Rica to Jaco and the Central Pacific, Costa Rica beaches. Now Jaco is only one hour from San Jose on a beautiful, new highway and the distance between Jaco and the airport has been greatly reduced!

The charming old highway, known as El Aguacate or The Avacodo, has been much improved over the last five years, but contains a series of switchbacks as it winds through several mountain towns like Atenas, Orotina and La Garita and numerous coffee plantations. A highlight of the approximately two hour trip was a stop at the Mirador Restaurants with views of miles and miles of Costa Rica mountains and countryside all the way to the coast. Many return Jaco vacation goers choose to drive the Aguacate because of its beauty and the memories of Costa Rica vacations of years past.

The new Costa Rica highway goes through the same areas, but on a well engineered road with modern bridges and overpasses. The mostly straight stretch of modern highway and fresh pavement includes lane reflectors, adequate signage and toll booths. The cost of the tolls for a trip from san Jose to the Coast is about five US dollars, well worth it for those used to modern roads in North America and other developed nations. The new highway goes through upscale suburbs of San Jose, Costa Rica like Escazu, Santa Ana, La Sabana, and ends in Puntarenas on the Central Pacific Coast.
