How's the Real Estate Market in Costa Rica?

SPECIAL FEATURE - COSTA RICA AND THE CURRENT WORLD ECONOMIC SITUATION NOTE - even with the economic downturn the US and most of the world has recently experienced, Costa Rica has faired quite well. We do have deals and opportunities, but we didn't over build by tens of thousands of units like they did in Miami and parts of Nevada and California. Costa Rica doesn't have and never has had sub-prime real estate loans to artificially drive up home prices (thus no major bubble). You are most likely not going to find properties listed below (or much below) what a person paid for it or below what the current cost to construct a similar home, however, if you want the best deal and the best value you need to come down with cash and be ready to buy! The best deals do not last very long and most of the deals aren't transparent. You need to present an offer before seeing what the owner is willing to take and to see how motivated they really are. With the economic crisis in the US starting to recover, we are seeing our demand rise again. It is still a buyer's market, but don't wait too long if you want to capitalize on the best deals and opportunities. Jaco Beach, Hermosa and the Central Pacific is a growth market. The one factor that hasn't changed is that Jaco and Hermosa still has an active market of interested buyers, many of which, see this area as their future home for retirement outside of the cold northern climates of the US and Canada, outside of the far reaching tax arm of the IRS, want to live a good life at a lower cost of living than the US and Canada and the smart ones are transferring their investment funds from volitile stocks and bonds and bank accounts to hard assets before the inflationary effects of the US' rising national debt lowers the value of the US Dollar. Those hard assets are international real estate and many baby boomers and Savy Investors are buying their future retirement real estate and homes while the equation is still balanced in their favor!
