Jaco Costa Rica Hotels and Restaurants; Jaco, Hermosa and Herradura
Considering living in Jaco or vacationing in a Jaco Condo, beach house or mountain retreat? Be rest assured that you will not have a shortage of excellent restaurants to choose from. If you think there are too many choices, feel free to stop by the Oceanside Realty office on Main Street in the Pacific Center for guidance.
Wahoo's Restaurant - Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, Wahoo's is a family (decendents of one of Jaco's founding families) run bistro style restaurant with excellent food. Try the blackened tuna or macademia encrusted mahi mahi. Full bar. Comfortable chairs. Open air with nice, friendly environment. Located on Main Street across from the Jaco's Central Park. Excellent value. Great Food.
Hotel Poseidon - A definite for an evening meal while in Jaco. Great food by nice people. The Poseidon has earned a reputation for consistency and excellence. We like the tuna, the grilled filet mignon and the pad tai, but everything on the menu is awesome. Also serving the best American breakfast and a great lunch in Jaco. Located on El Bohio Street in the center of town.
Lemon Zest - The Lemon Zest Restaurant is a must for a gourmet dinner in Costa Rica's best beach town in a bistro style atmosphere. Chef Lemon specials are excellent and the every day favorites include a roasted duck (my personal favorite), several chicken and fish dishes and wonderful salads. Located on Main Street in downtown Jaco. Open for dinner only.
Bubba's Fish Tacos - A local favorite for those wanting a light meal with fresh mahi mahi, sea bass or the catch of the day. Bubba's special sauce make his taco outstanding. Put Bubba's on the top of your list for a quick, filling and delcious lunch spot. Bubba's is located in downtown Jaco on Calle Bohio in the Bohio Restaurant on the beach.
Wishbone - A local favorite, located in the tourist district on main street. A wide selection from asian to pizza. Caliche is a famous local surfer who has built a great reputation with locals and tourists alike. I like the spicy tuna and the oyster chicken, but the pizza and salads are also good. Expensive, but consistent and very tasty.
Esparanza (used to be Colonial) - a favorite for tourists, the colonial is located in the center of main street. A big restaurant with a tropical atmosphere. Food is good and consistent. A first stop for many tourists. Get an American style cheese burger or lobster bisque soup. We like it all.
Claritas - Open air bar and restaurant located on the north side of Jaco beach. Claritas has the best grilled, bacon cheeseburgers in Costa Rica and their arroz con mariscos is also delicious. Also a favorite watering hole for gringos.
The Jungle Bar - Now called Revolution and is a disco. No food. - This air-conditioned sports bar is located on main street in the center of Jaco above the Oceanside Realty office. It is the place to watch your favorite sporting event and socialize with friends. The Jungle has a great burger, barbeque ribs and appetizers. Fratenized by locals and tourists alike.
El Bohio - Another one of our favorite beachfront bar and grill specializing in its stir-fry creations. Good food and drinks on the beach in the center of Jaco. Newly remodeled with a comfortable lounge and game room. A great place to relax with an ice cold Imperial while watching the surfers.
Villa Caletas - Enjoy fantastic sunsets from the amplitheatre over looking The Gulf of Nicoya while listening to the sound track from 1492 and sipping on a cocktail or tropical drink. The atmosphere is fabulous. Stay for dinner and enjoy gourmet meals prepared to perfection.
El Gileon - Located in Los Suenos adjacent to the world class marina overlooking the million dollar boats and Costa Rica's Herradura Bay. Gourmet food cooked to perfection and excellent service. My favorite is the lamb.
Tsunami Sushi - Enjoy fresh sushi prepared to perfection along with a warm saki or Sapporo Japaneese Beer. Sushi lovers who travel the world believe this to be as good as sushi anyplace in the world. The fish is delivered fresh daily from the docks at Los Suenos Marina just ten minutes away. Located on Main Street in downtown Jaco.
Mexican Joe's - Mexican food lovers tell me this is close to authentic Tex Mex (if that makes sense). Anyway, good food, reasonable prices. Located above Big Ron's Pizza on Main Street.
Jaco Taco - Mexican food and an Expat favorite. Huge helpings - order one burrito for two people and you will have more than enough food. Also a favorite for Sunday football specials.
Rio Oasis - Pizza lovers claim it's the best thin crust pizza in Jaco, but Rio Oasis has a complete menu and great food. Located on Main Street in downtown Jaco.
Pizza Pata - Order Pizza Pata by the meter. 1/4 meter will serve about 2 people, but if you're hungry, order the half meter for 2 or 3. Worse case, you'll have some left over for breakfast. Don't forget to try the pesto sauce. It is awesome! Located in Plaza Coral. Phone 2643-6543
Big Ron's Pizza - New York style pizza has arrived in Costa Rica's best beach town, Jaco. Located on Main Street in the center of Jaco. Order by the slice or an entire pizza. Excellent. Phone 2643-2643
Pizza Hut - New 2012 location. Now in Plaza Coral, 2nd floor about KFC. Need a taste of home while in Costa Rica's Jaco Beach? Pizza Hut is located on Main Street on the North side of Jaco. A second location is in Herradura. Pizza Hut offers delivery in Jaco and Herradura.
Subway - Another frachised taste of home. Grab a subway sandwhich on your way to your favorite surfing beach in Costa Rica. Located on Main Street in Jaco and in Herradura. Daily lunch specials are the best bargain.
Kentucky Fried Chicken - KFC is a popular franchise around the globe and the Jaco Beach location is equally popular. Located just north of Oceanside Realty on Main Street in the center of Jaco.
Quiznos - I like the bullet sandwiches at Quiznos in Jaco Costa Rica. Located in Plaza Coral and just North of Oceanside Realty's Pacific Center office.
Brown Box - Brown Box is a new pastry shop in central Jaco. Located across from Plaza Coral on Main Street. Own and operated by my son Nick's classmate's family. If you like sweet deserts, you will love the Brown Box.
